Noel Edmonds is the one person who started my interest in
broadcasting. From the days of Swap Shop right through to Noel's House
Party and now his recent Radio Two show, Noel is someone who has
influenced broadcasting in a way many probably don't even recognise. How
many who watched Swap Shop back in the 1970s and 1980s realised that
they were watching something totally new and unique in TV, and something
which has been copied by countless shows, both TV and radio ever since?
Who would have thought that four unknown TV presenters, a toy dinosaur,
a man in the roof and a strange hand behind the sofa could be so
important and influential in TV history?
